Installing Toad 14 Years, 3 Months ago
Hi there! It’s a great work that you that you are doing here Hassan! Thank You.
I have installed E-Business suite according to the tutorials successfully and it is working fine. My Question is about installing TOAD. Can anyone be kind enough to let me know if I need to install it on the Client side or the server side that is running on VMware server? Toad version that I have is Windows version.

Hi Rafay,

You can install Toad in either server or client.

Better option is to install it on client (windows machine). since Windows version of TOAD is most common and navigation will be better in client machine than from the virtual machine.

Shanmuga

Thank you so much for your response.
If I could ask one more thing: I did install Toad on Windows but it is not able to find Oracle Client. Of course it’s not going to find Oracle client on windows machine. How can I let Toad find Oracle Client on Linux OS that is running as Server on VMWARE.
Thank You
Rafay

If you install Toad on Windows then it will need an Oracle client on Windows machine not on Linux.
Option A:
1) Install Toad on Windows 2) Install Oracle client on Windows 3) Configure tnsnames.ora to connect to your Linux server. Your Toad will work.
Option B:
1) Simply download SQL Developer 2)and install it. It does not use Oracle Client. You can make a direct connection using existing thin client.
I would suggest you go with Option B to keep things simple.
