Invenory organization creation omitted in AP Setup 12 Years ago
In configuring financial options in Account Payables, you mentined creation of Inventory Organization, However, you did not show how this was done. You referred to Inventory organization has been done in the "Data Entry Default" slide. How you arrived at this was never shown. You later went to Financial Systems Option, and referred to Inventory Organization once again. How you arrived at or setup of Inventory Organization, as well as how you got to have HM Purchasing Superuser was never shown in any of the slides. You did not complete the lecture on the Financial Options setup, which is the first item in the AP setup as shown in the lecture.

Can you please show how to create inventory organization and HM Purchasing Superuser, and how this got to be tied to the AP setup options. As you mentioned in the lecture slides under the second option, Inventory organization is key to proceeding with the AP configuration. When Inventory Organization is not properly configured, you mentioned that other screens will not come out well, and errors will be encountered.

Thank you.

I fail to understand how you are arriving at all these conclusions.
All necessary steps are shown in the videos. I have not skipped any required step. Please revisit my videos if necessary.
For your information creating inventory organization is not required for Payables implementation, if you are not using Purchasing. And that is how we implemented Payables. If you are on Vision instance then you will be required to create inventory organization as purchasing module is enabled there. (That is why I dont recommend Vision; it comes preloaded with unwanted configuraiton; not good for learning)
In my Purchasing videos I have shown how to create Inventory organization in very much detail as this is the required step for Purchasing implementation.
Also all necessary Financial options are configured in my videos. I am not sure why you are saying I have skipped this step. You cannot implement AP without configuring Financial options. You need to take the same step by step approach as I am taking if you are following my videos. Otherwise there are one million other ways of doing an implementation. You can do it in any way you like.

I just noticed while answer another inquiry on the similar issue that the Financial Options tutorial in Payables section was pointing to the wrong video. It was playing Purchasing module's Financial Options video instead. And hence the confusion about inventory organizaiton. In Payables implementation you do not need to create Inventory Organization (unless you are using a vision install). I have fixed this video.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Hello Hasan,

While following this exercise, inventory organization is mandatory in financial option screen. I though of creating an inventory organization for that but while creating the inventory org, I stuck in another issue. My operating unit is not appearing in the list of values. I cannot query from Operating from core application form. Moreover I can see that my inventory org record has been saved on the form but from back-end, I am not able to see any record in org_organization_definition table. I am not using vision instance.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks for your help !!

Cheers
Vijay

Please follow the steps given in the attached file and proceed further. This is a dummy organization. If you wish to create a proper inventory organization then you can follow my Purchasing videos.
If you are able to save the work then I dont see any issues at this point. Simply move forward. Go to Financial Options and see if the inventory organization is appearing in the list of values. If not then we have an issue, otherwise we are good.

k2.vijay,

If you see further problems related to inventory organization then please open a new thread of your own. This is a thread originally created by another user. Thanks.
