R12 Installation - Reconnecting & Vision 12 Years, 3 Months ago
I used the videos about a year ago and successfully installed a clean R12 instance.

I have few hopefully simple questions to ask you as I'm not about my options.

1) The R12 instances was successfully installed on an external hardrive. Recently my internal hardrive required a re-install of Vista and so all the VM Software and settings etc have been wiped away. Is there a way of setting everything up so that I can still access R12 on the external drive ?

2) I recently installed Apache on my C: Drive in order to use PHP and Drupal. Is that likely to conflict with the R12 install ?

3) If I wanted to have a Vision database on a new install, would it be as simple as selecting that option and continuing to use the settings described in your videos, or would there be complications.

4) Is it possible to have one 'clean' and one 'Vision' R12 instances in parallel using the same PC ?

5) Finally, Will your install process work the same for a Windows 7 PC as well ?

1) Yes you can do that. Simply re-install your VM software and register a new Virtual Machine. (Register, not Create).
VM software will ask you for the location. Provide the location of your external drive. (Take a backup of VM folder in external drive just in case)
2)Apache should not conflict with VM. VM runs as an independent service.
3) This would be as simple as selecting the Vision option. However the installation will take much much longer to finish and you will need extra space on your disk. All it does is create Vision data in the database. Front-end files remain the same and so does the table structures.
