1- You have not lost much. Simply recreate the VM and restart the installation. That is the easiest method.
2- Yes you can do that. You can install Oracle Applications directly on Oracle Linux running on real hardware (rather than VM). You will then have to access Oracle through a browser from Linux. You can do that. However supported way of accessing Oracle Applications is through a Windows based PC. If you have another Windows based computer/laptop you can use that as a client.
