Unable to log into http://linux.server:8000

Went to tools, Internet Options and Security: disabled "XSS Filter" in the option under "custom level" of "Internet","Local Intranet" and "Trusted Sites"

Any clue what the issue(s) may be and how to fix it?

Most like your services are down. If you can provide the error message that you are getting on your browser, then that would give some clue.
First make sure services are up.

Could you tell us how to start services.

Which services: windows services or linux services.
