Consolidation 12 Years, 8 Months ago
Hello All,
According to lesson number 160 in our GL on consolidation, we can post from subsidiary to parent ledger even when the periods are different, in the lesson we have subsidiary with period june and parent with period january, how will the parent ledger handle transaction of june because period june is closed in the parent ledger and in our GL we have our future enterable period as 1,definitely if june is not opened in parent we cannot post june transactions comming from our subsidiary.please shed more light on this for me.

The period must be either opened or future enterable in your parent ledger in order to absorb the data from subsidiary ledger. You cannot do the transfer into a closed period.
Period could be closed in subsidiary but does not has to be opened or future enterable in parent.
Usually the transfer is done in current periods. The point in the lesson is that periods do not have to match when you run the transfer. For example, you can transfer data from NOV-11 (monthly calendar) into Q3-11 (quarterly calendar).
