Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
I am confused about the installation process. I have downloaded the Oracle Linux, EBS and the packages files as discussed in the Lesson for installing EBS on Windows 7. My issue is that I dont see the next steps on what must be done for Window 7 installation. Where are these steps

I am currently in the process of creating new videos for Oracle R12 Installation at:
http://handsonerp.com/oracle-financials-tutorials/76-03-oracle-e-business-suite-installation-inst.html

It will take few days for all the videos to be uploaded. Thank you for your patience.

You can view the old videos here:

Re:Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
Are you suggesting I should install using the old process since it was more aligned towards Vista and XP?

OR

Should I be waiting until you upload all the videos for the new installation process?

Is few days a week, two weeks or a month?

Re:Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
In the older set of videos I am using VMWare->Oracle Linux 4->Oracle R12.
In the newer set I am using VirtualBox->Oracle Linux 6->Oracle R12.
Both processes will work just fine on any flavour of Windows because you can install VMWare and VirtualBox on any flavor of windows. So windows flavour is out of the equation.
"few days" could be 2 to 3 in best case. A week in worse case. Sorry, I cannot promise anything at the moment. These are the best estimates I can provide.
If you can wait, then that is fine. Otherwise please go ahead and do the installation using the old set of videos. Oracle R12 will work fine if you follow any set of videos to the core.

Re:Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
Thank you for your response.

Following the new steps, I have installed the virtual box, created and configured the virtual machine. I guess the next step is the installation of Linux 6 which I have done. Also Linux 6 does not have the GUI desktop and I believe the packages were meant for that. I was not able to get the Linux packages installed since the old videos refer to a different file name than what I have in the Linux package zip file.

You have presented the installation in an easy to understand process. So I will be patient until you upload the remaining videos.

Hi Hasan,

Thanks for posting the video Oracle Linux installation.
On page41 I selected the basic server and at the bottom I selected customize now.
On page 42 I selected the base system on the left side and selected all the options on the right side you have suggested. I followed the instructions and hit next. As soon as I hit next it started installation and did not give me the option to select other options from the left menu after base system. Now my installation has completed and I did not select other options. Can you suggest me what to do now. I think I should not have hit the next button until completed all the choices on the left side of page 42.

The Next button was suppose to be hit after selecting the required components in all the categories. Sorry I am going to fix the video. Please re-install linux. Simply stop the virutal machine, attach the linux ISO to the DVD ROM and restart your virtual machine. The installation will begin again. (Or you can delete the virtual machine and recreate it and then do the installation.)
Sorry for the trouble.

I have completed upto Video 11 (Install Oracle Linux on Virtual Machine) and don't see the next step/s (Configure Static IP address) according to your earlier slides. I know that you're in the process of creating new videos so I don't know if that's where you've left off at. Could you please advise or post?

Would you please make available the text scripts that come with the Linux Configuration step in the old installation steps?

There is an issue with the Video for Installing the Linux Packages. It is not playing. Can you please reload it. I checked all other existing videos and it is working

Re:Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
Problem fixed.
Today hopefully I will upload the main video on Installing Oracle Applicaitions. After that only two small steps will remain to connect to Oracle Applications. 1) Open port 9000 on Linux Firewall 2) Add a host entry in Windows for Linux Server. I can tell you how to do these in the forum if you like. Or you can seek assistance from OLD videos. Or you can wait.

Re:Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
I just checked the video and it is working.

You can explain the two steps in the forum. I also change my network settings to host-only since I use my laptop at work and home.

Another question related to verify stage area is to check the txt file for "OK". Since this is a large file, there is a likely hood of overlooking an error when we scroll through the file. Is there a specific error message that we need to look for in the text file.

Re:Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
While going through the Oracle EBS installation I am getting a pre-install exclamation check for the host domain. The error is "RW-00048: Error: Verify the format of the file /etc/hosts is of the form "IP Address hostname.domainname hostname". This format should be
127.0.0.1 linux.server linux

The video mentions that the configuration should be
127.0.0.1 linux linux.server

When I change the hosts file to the required format the issue is resolved. What is the correct resolution?

Re:Installation using Windows 7 OS 11 Years, 11 Months ago
Yes it should be:

127.0.0.1 linux.server linux

I have fixed the linux configuration video. Sorry for the confusion.

Open the hosts file as root

su root
gedit /etc/hosts

Fix the problem and save the file.
Click on Retry button on RapidWiz if it is already open. Otherwise relaunch it.
