Oracle EBS Upgrade from 11.5.9 to R12 12 Years, 8 Months ago
|
|
Currently we are on 11.5.9 and we want to move to Oracle R12.1.3 (most probably Upgrade)
Size of Organization:
The client is small, based in US and around 20 users. 11 OUs, 1 Ledger. No Multicurrency, No Intercompany. The client has the Peoplesoft at Higher level. There are lot of interfaces from Oracle EBS 11.5.9 to other Subsystems. Client is only using Receivables and General Ledger. It is a small implementation.
Current Hardware:
Hardware: HP ProLiant DL380 G3 Dual Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80GHz
OS: Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS
Memory: 4GB
Swap: 2GB
Total disk space: 400 GB
Current EBS Software:
1. Oracle EBS 11.5.9, however the Financials part of it is 11.5.10. Yes we have existing license and that do have Support.
What is the recommended hardware, software etc requirements certified for the latest stable version of R12.
2. What is the cost associated with the Oracle EBS R12.1.3 (Latest) version Oracle Upgrade Suite (Incase client wants to go for upgrade) or I think we can download it free if we have the current license and support.
3. What is the cost associated with the Full Oracle EBS R12.1.3 (Latest) version (Incase client wants to go for Re-Implementation)
Can I do some CRP sessions with vision instance on the above mentioned hardware? I don’t think so……..
4. Given the size of client, do you think we need to go with EXADATA. If due to the cost factors client do not want to go with the Exadata then what is the alternative configuration?
5. Licensing costs for this Oracle VM 3.0? It was launched yesterday. It is free. In what scenario the client has to buy the license? Need the cost for that too…
6. I need some roadmap and detailed information on how to upgrade? Should I use Oracle VM 3?

Gursikh133, The main purpose of this forum is to ask questions related to the videos. I will not be touching "cost" related questions.
Few things you need to do:
*) Define the purpose of your upgrade
*) Decide whether to upgrade or whether to re-implement. You might want to re-implement if you wish to recreated organization structures in the systems (like ledgers, legal entites, operating units, security profiles etc.) to take advantage of R12 features.
*) If you decide to re-implement then define the data migration strategy for AR customers, AR Open Trasnactions and Receipts, GL Journals, Historical Balances etc.
*) Figure out the functional impact on existing business procedures.
*) Figure out the impact on current customizations/interfaces. What percentage of work has to be redone. Study the ER diagrams.
*) Find out from Oracle the hardware requirements for R12 server. R12 is more demanding than 11i in terms of resources.

Hii,
I have a question - In the tutorials Mr.Hasan is mentioning about the Questions to be asked to the End users inorder to draw the chart of accounts before implementation - and its mentioned that the list of questions wil be provided in later tutorials - My question is - Are these questions been mentioned in any of the tutorials - if yes it falls under which Video or topic ? Can anyone please help in regards to same.
Thanks in advance
Mansoor

Mansoor, You can open a new thread for this as this question is not related to the current topic. Sorry, I have not prepared that tutorial yet that will list high level questions that one can ask the end-users to derive how system should be configured.
