Consolidation Architecture - Reporting Currency 13 Years ago
Subject seems wierd but hard to resist consolidation process from reporting currency (ledger).

For e.g.: To simplify - let's take 3 Ledgers

Assumption: Ledgers are all in USD Currency after translation / Data transfer from external system via FAH - kind of pre-mapped to USD COA. Let's say they are all reporting ledgers automatically created by the system from translation process from foreign currency ledger to USD Currency)

1. CNY Ledger in USD Currency

2. ARG Ledger in USD currency

3. USD Ledger in USD currency (This is local ledger with only USD trxs/journals)

Can't we create a ledgerset for these three and run consolidated reports ? What are the limitations if it is possible?

Do we need a consolidated ledger? DO we still have to have a Consolidation process (preparion/mapping/transfer)?

What is the best practice for this scenario?

Thanks for looking into it.

If you have three ledgers sharing the same Cs except for the currency, then you can perform the consolidation directly using FSGs.
You do not need to run consolidation data transfer into a separate consolidation ledger. I have covered that topic in the videos.
Thanks for ledger set concept in R12.

I hope that answers your query.

Thank you..How can we apply elimination in FSG consolidated reports in this scenario if we do not have a separate consolidated ledger?

Lets say we have three ledgers:

Ledger1 - Oracle US (COA: ORACLE, CALENDAR: STANDARD, CURRENCY: USD)
Ledger2 - Oracle Canada (COA: ORACLE, CALENDAR: STANDARD, CURRENCY: CAD)
Ledger3 - Oracle UK (COA: ORACLE, CALENDAR: STANDARD, CURRENCY: UK)

Place all the three ledgers in a ledger set.

You will need to translate balances from CAD to USD in Ledger3 and from UK to USD in Ledger3, assuming Oracle US is a parent company.

Create elimination entries in Ledger1. Place them in a separate BSV: 99.

See consolidated results of all ledgers together in USD using FSG.
