'9999' Account 13 Years, 8 Months ago
While doing Summery account,I used 9999 account instead of AA(Asset Account),becuase you said some companies use it.Now I have to use 9999 account while telling Oracle for the Offset Account (Recurring Offset). Will there be an Error ? If so what is my other option?

Hi Liben,
I cannot remember what Hasan said, but I think if your client would like a Number Parent values instead of Alpha Parent values, then if for example, Assets range from 1000 to 9999, I would make AA (All Assets) Parent value to be 1000.
Similarly, if Liability accounts range from 2000 to 2999, then I would make AL (All Liabilities) Parent value to be 2000.

And so for...

Logically, I wouldn't use 9999 for a Parent value.
I hope this helps!

Some companies use alphanumeric values like AA, ASSETS etc as parent values while other use numeric values like 999, 9999 etc as parent values and alphanumeric as rollups.
Numeric values are easy to use in terms of data entry.
I have seen that the second option is more popular.
Having said that I dont see how using 9999 would pose any issue. I dont understand your problem. Are you talking about special line number 9999 used as offset? That is the line number not an account number, so that should not be a problem.

If a company decides to use a numeric Parent value, say 9999, how would you distribute the numeric values for All Assets, All Liabilities, All Equities accounts. I mean, what values would you give for the above different Parent values? Please, give these examples. Thanks
