- Data Access Sets, control which Ledgers can be accessed by different
responsibilities
- Only 1 Data Access Set can be assigned to a Responsibility
- Are used to secure read and write access to :
-Ledgers,
-Balancing Segment Values,
-Management Segment Values
for one or more ledgers.

The following two paths lead a completely two different screens:
1) Setup > Financials > Data Access Sets
2) Setup > Financials > Definition Access Sets > Define

I will like to know the concept and functionality of the latter.

Data Access Set and Definition Access Set are totally two different things.
Data Access Set controls data access. For example what ledger you can access and what balancing segment values or management segment values you can access.
Definition Access Set controls which definitions you can access and what kind of access you have on definitions (Use, Modify, View).
Examples of definitions include mass allocation formula, FSG report, recurring formula etc.
