list high level questions to be asked to end users 12 Years, 7 Months ago
Hasan,
Thanks for your reply regarding my query. Is it possible for you to send me such questionaire by email as it will be helpful for me for our present implementation. Its a humble request if possible it will be a great help. (my email: mansoor@gerabgroup.com)This query is in reply to your below answer :"
Mansoor, You can open a new thread for this as this question is not related to the current topic. Sorry, I have not prepared that tutorial yet that will list high level questions that one can ask the end-users to derive how system should be configured.
Hasan"

I dont have it ready. I wanted to cover all topics first before I would create a list of questions. List of questions would simply be a guide of you have already learned in the lessons. For example 1) Does client require separate representation of a ledger? If Yes then consider creating Reporting Currency/Secondary Ledgers. See if you can create your own list based on what you have learned so far, until I produce one.

Hii, Thanks for your reply, i got your point and that was the approach i was going to take. I just thought might be you all might have the questions ready as you are into consultancy also. As we are going into implementation hence was looking out for such questions to ask our client as the questions provided by Oracle Docs are very vast and not to the point. If any such questionaire which is precise and upto the point like mentioned in lessons is available at your end or with somebody at extra cost - i will be happy to receive it with payment also. In any case thanks for your prompt reply.
thanks and regards
Mansoor

Mansoor, To be very honest I do not carry list of questions with me when I go to clients. The idea was to make it easy for new comers by giving them a list.
When you know the what options are available in Oracle then you can ask relevant questions on the fly.
For example:
Client: We need to view invoice line details in GL.
Possible options:
1-Drill down,
2-Switch the transfer form AP to GL mode from summary to detail.
Consultant: Would you like to be able to drill down from journal line to the source invoice line or would you like to view the invoice line details in your GL reports?
Client: Drill down
Consultant: We do not need to perform additional setup. We can conduct a small training session where we can show your staff how to do drill down.
OR
Client: We would like to see details in GL reports.
Consultant: We would need to switch AP to GL flag to detail. Some testing needs to be performed to make sure all is working well. We would need a STAGE environment where can change the flag and do the testing. Then we can do the change in production.
