Difference between Default and Open Budget version 16 Years ago
Hi Hasan,
In one of your videos related to Budget versions, you have mentioned that Budget versions can be used to track expenditure preceptions of different people.
Say for ex.
I have created two Budget versions 1. BV1 and BV2 both for the same Budget organization.
In BV1, I give enter an amount of 1000 CAD against 01-5000-10.
In BV2 also, I enter
1000 CAD against 01-5000-10.

My doubt is, whether the budgeted value for 01-5000-10 has become 2000 or is it still 1000 based on the default/open budget.
What happens in case of a GL which is budget control enabled?

01-5000-10 would show $1000 under BV1 and $1000 under BV2. Two amounts will not be mixed up under any case.

Hi Hasan,
Thanks for the response. But I am having doubt as to where can we need a different budget version for the same account.
How is a "open" budget version used when only the "current" BV is used for budgetary control purposes?

Regards,
Abhigyan

Hello Abhigyan,

Budgets as a normal practice always has different versions. This has got nothing to do with Oracle Financials as such. For eg if you want to operate at a different level then you may have different version for each level - for eg you anticiape your sales to be 2000 units per Qtr in level1 as opposed to 5000 units in level2 - naturally your operating expenditure would change accordingly but may not be in the same ratio. These are normal reactions, normal practice when you take into account the market factors which affect your Sales budget( Sales budget normally is the starting budget). I hope this answers your question. Hasan might add on to it if he so desires.

"Funding" budget is used for budgetary control purposes.
