creating and verifying the stage area 12 Years, 9 Months ago
Hi Hassan,

I first I created the stage without the md5 file downloaded then I downloaded the file and added it to the oracle folder. then I recreated the stage by removing the old file from the shared folder and when started the virtual machine it was giving the message that media already exist but some how I recreated the stage and I check the md5 was also unzipped and when i come to verification stage it is md5 file is missing in the listing. so i dont while recreating i made an error. Please help how to recreate a stage and how to remove the file from the stage or I can just add the md5 file in the shared folder and create the stage seperately please advise.

The md5 zip file contains md5_1211_32bit.txt, which could be placed in the stage later on as well. That is ok.
There few options if the md5 file is missing from stage.
1) You can download the zip file directly from the linux browser. Unzip the file and put the txt file in the stage.
2) You can download the md5 zip file on Windows and unzip it on Windows. Copy the txt file on Linux stage using shared folder.
3) You can download the md5 zip file . Copy the zip file to some folder on Linux (using shared folder). Unzip the file on Linux and copy the txt file on the stage.

The bottom line is that the txt file has to go eventually to the stage, using any method you like.

Thank you Hassan for your reply. My question is I first created the stage without the file and again what I did I copiod the md5 file into the oracle folder and recreated the stage once again from the beginining and everything was ok as per your creating stage area video. At that time I saw the md file in stage folder and the next day when I opened the stage folder the file is missing. Should remove the older stage folder and create a new folder and view the listing.
When I was unzipping all the files I saw the md5 unzipping also at the time so if I do it the second time will it not be duplicated?
If I remove the old stage folder what is the command I have to give in shell window Please advise

"At that time I saw the md file in stage folder and the next day when I opened the stage folder the file is missing. "
This is strange.

The problem could be fixed in various way. As mentioned earlier you can simply download the md5 file into the existing stage.

However to keep things simply, remove the old stage.
Issue this command from the Oracle home directory.

rm -R stage

where stage is the name of your stage folder.
This will remove the stage.
or rename it to something else if you like but then you will run out of space.

mv stage stage2

Once the stage is removed please recreate it. This will keep things simply and manageable although this is more work.

As you said I removed the stage and created the stage.
and after that mounted the My DAP downloads and when I issue the command for unzipping the files it gives the following errror message
syntax error near unexpected token 'do'
the command I typed is far z in *.zip; do unzip -o $z -d /home/Oracle/stage; done
please help

You typed in
far z in *.zip; do unzip -o $z -d /home/Oracle/stage;

You should have typed in:
for z in *.zip; do unzip -o $z -d /home/Oracle/stage; done;
