|

|
Hi Hasan,
I am facing some issue while mounting the My_DAP_downloads.
[root@linux Oracle]#mount -t vboxsf My_DAP_Downloads /home/Oracle/media
/sbin/mount.vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: Invalid argument
Please let me know why the argument is not correct and how to fix this please.
Thanks
Ramnik

Thanks Hasan.
I added the oracle user to group vboxsf also but it did not work. Just FYI..in the meantime researching on my side too.
usermod -a -G vboxsf Oracle

One situation when this error could occur is when guest additions are not installed properly.
Please confirm if you have installed guest additions.
Just in case please reinstall the guest additions software. Go to devices->Guest Additions. This simply inserts a virtual CD in the CD ROM. You need to run it if it does not automatically run. You will see its icon on the desktop. You can run it manually from there after installing the guest additions.
See if this resolves the issue.

Sorry to hear that you are still facing this issue. This issue is only coming up at my end if the folder is not shared properly or if guest connections are not installed.
Did you create the share while vm was down?
Did you enable auto mount when setting up the shared?
Did you run the mount command as root?
Please confirm the above just in case.
Sometimes people have reported issues with underscore "_". Rename the My DAP Downloads on Windows as MyDAP (or anyting without spaces, keep the name small). Try sharing this folder and see if that works.

Hi Hasan,
I was very busy could not respond you earlier.
Three points I noted for successful completion of installation and forms will work.
1. In your video you mentioned read only + Mount option. Do not select mount option and the best way to go with mount -t command work very well. Make a script keep in root home directory to execute every time when you start you linux with VM.
2. Do not use "_" for shared folder.
3. After installation complete. Nowadays most end users desktop ,laptop using IE 8 so most of the people will encounter the issue with forms "FRM-92050 failed to connect to Server /forms/servlet -1 Applet / Forms not opening on IE8". The fix is go to IE => Tools=>Internet options=>select security tab=> select custom level=> Look for XSS filter which by default enabled. => Disable the XSS filter and click ok. Refresh the browser your forms will "Work".
Hope the above steps will be useful for new users and you can add in your videos if you want.

Thanks.
The problem 3 is very common and I have provided the same solution every now and then, when this problem comes up on the forums. (Also I remember mentioning this in the videos.)
