Can you please explain the concept of dependent value set and if there is dis advtg in using that

I have explained the concept as well as provided the demonstration of dependent segment in Assets module implementation. The category and location flexfields structures that we have created includes independant segments.
Another common example is the use of account and subaccount segment in GL Chart of Account Structure. Sub-Account segment is created as dependant on Account.
Here is an example:
Account Segment Values:
1000 Cash
2000 Liability
Sub Account Segment Values:
Dependent on 1000
100 Petty Cash
101 Bank Cash
Dependent on 2000
100 Trade Liability
110 Loan
First user would select a value in Account segment.
Based on the value selected, Oracle will display values in the dependent segment.
