Inter-company- and Intra-company Accounting 13 Years, 8 Months ago
Hi Hasan,
Please, could you explain to us the difference between Inter-company- and Intra-company Accounting. Do we have to create a segment for Intra-company as we do for Intercompany?
Please, give us some examples of the applications of both concepts.
Thank you a bunch.

In a nut shell:

When two legal entities do business then that is referred to as intercompany. When two entities with a legal entity do business between themselves then that is referred to as intracompany.

Example:

BSVs 10,20, and 30 belong to Legal Entity 1 (LE1).
BSVs 40,50, and 60 belong to Legal Entity 2 (LE2).

When 10 and 30 do business, that is referred to as intracompany.

When 10 and 50 do business, that is referred to as intercompany.

The two legal entities could also reside in different ledgers.

There are different setups for intracompany and intercompany in R12.

11i's intercompany is now intracompany in R12.

Thank you Hasan,
Please, when are you planning to show us the different setups for intracompany and intercompany in R12. Given that Intercompany segment is part of a COA when it is to be implemented, it is unfair on us not knowing how to deal with this when engaging into a GL implementation.
Please, do something about this.
Thank you.

These topics fall under a module: Oracle AGIS (Advanced Global Intercompany System).

Hasan,

Can you not do some videos on them soon? This is part of GL or extension of GL in reality. You can invoke AGIS through the Accounting Setup. Is it not?

Thanks,

Arun

You are right. I will remember that. I just wanted to refer to this post when raising it. Thanks,
