I believe this will be a quick one for you. Perhaps,I am doing something wrong.
I have in the past been able to install Oracle AppsR12 direct on XP as I could not proceed further on guest machine . But now reverting back to it for some reason, and again got stuck.
After installing the guest machine-Oracle VM Virtualbox and linux, but it crashes on rebooting. The CD was empty. The error message says: Oracle VM virtualbox manager has stopped working. A problem caused the programme to stop working. Please close the programme.
This waswindows 7 and allocated half of the Ram.
Any clue as to what to do ?

Make sure the memory dedicated to the guest system is in multiples of 1024 for example 2048.
If that is not an issue then it is the version number of the virtualbox software. Please download the same version that I have used.

I will certainly check this out as suggested. Though,
I can easily and have installed it direct on xp without any issues and with a loopback adapter. But will definitely want to get your option working on win 7 if possible.

You are very correct, it is definitely version related.
The only issue here is the slowness compared with direct installation on an xp host machine and the fact that one must be connected to an internet unlike using a loopback adapter also direct on xp host machine where you don't have to be connected to an internet to use the Oracle Apps.
I have not yet tried direct installation on windows 7 or 8 32 or 64 bit .

Sorry John, but as far as I know you dont have to be connected to the internet to use Oracle Applications. If your virtual box is crashing then it is related to the version number of the virtual box. If you install the same version as I did then you will not face this issue. Whether internet is active or not, should not have any bearing on the installation and working of Oracle.

In general, I sincerely think that I should not proceed with installing APPS via the virtualbox machine.
This is now the second time in a year I have tried and it's not working for me. I have now uninstalled the vbox and will rather continue to use APPS direct on XP . If I get it on windows 7, directly installed, that's fine, else , I am happy with it on xp so far.
It is too slow on vbox and hence, keep crashing and can take up to two days. The time is not there for such when there are other alternatives.

My experience with Virtual Box and VMWare is very good. Both software are robust and do not crash. Also using virtualization, you can take snapshots and clone your system easily.

I am also getting the same problem. I have installed virtual box 4.2.4 as suggested for Windows 8. After installing Oracle linux , virtual box is crashing.
Please help me on this.
