Yes virtualbox could be installed on XP.
Just follow the new set of vidoes (category: 03) and you should be all set.

4. Help Page

If you are doing the re-installation then that is fine. I will let you do that and will not attend your list of errors at this point.
About your second question, if you are 100% sure about the md5sum check then that is all you can do at this point. Also verify you have installed the required linux packages. That is it. If the post installation check fails then we will deal with it at that point. Log files will tell you what is going on. But if you have followed the instructions to the core should not have an issue.
You can only ping your linux box using IP at this point until you add an entry in Windows hosts file.

First thing I would like to verify is the output of md5sum. I know you did the check and all is OK. Please update the file.
Next I would like to verify if you have installed the two linux packages and have created the soft link.

Please confirm. Thanks.

Re:install on Winows XP box 11 Years, 10 Months ago
Ok thanks. This rules out all common issues.
Now lets try to find out what is wrong with your installation.
I would like to confirm if database side of services are coming up nicely.
Could you please start the database service and then the listener using the commands as shown in the video.
addbctl.sh start
addlnctl.sh start PROD

Please paste the output. Thanks.

Yes I know you are at post-install check. That is ok. We will try to manually start the services and see what is the problem.

Looks like database and listener are running fine.

Now please post the output of the following command to start application server side services as shown in the videos. Thanks.

adstrtal.sh apps/apps

Please stop the services first and then restart them so that a clean output file is produced.

adstpall.sh apps/apps
adstrtal.sh apps/apps

Please post the output of the second command.
