Installation of Oracle E Business Suite 11 Years, 4 Months ago
When configuring Linux (Video 12 of Installation Series - Windows 7 i.e. Configuring Oracle Linux) , after the step where I get the message ‘Insufficient Memory to configure Kdump’, I click OK and then ‘Finish’. The moment I click ‘Finish’ , Oracle VM gets hanged and stops responding . I am forced to close the VM. Hence Installation does not continue. Please help. Have followed all the instructions as given in videos till now

Qick Solution

Either do not take the snapshot or do all installation in the C drive of your laptop/PC.

Hope is the answer of your question

Which version of VM are you installing?
Some members have mentioned that the version 4.2 works fine without any issues. On some machines the older version (that I have used) causes this error.

Sorry, my apologies. I was off since last week. Sorry to see that your issue is still not resolved. I am looking into this error. Please provide me the total RAM you have on your host machine and also exactly how much RAM you have dedicated to your virtual machine. Is it 2048 MB? Thanks.
I understand that ‘Insufficient Memory to configure Kdump’ is the main error you are getting. If there is any other secondary error information on the screen then a screen shot would be nice.

Re:Installation of Oracle E Business Suite 11 Years, 3 Months ago
Hi

Total Installed memory on host i.e. Windows 7 is 6GB out of which 2.9 GB is usable. Rest occupied by Windows and the system. Have dedicated 2048 MB to the VM as instructed.

Yeah, after I get the message, I ignore that, as instructed in the video and click on Finish. But the moment i click on Finish, VM gets hanged and hence installation stops. It doesnt go to the Linux Login screen

Am trying to find some solution on the net for VM getting hanged but its all too technical for me to understand....

Hope this gets resolved. Am puzzled since have followed all instructions.

Sorry to see that you are still struggling.

I tried to do some research on your error. Looks like something wrong with version 4.2 as well. On some machines this version is giving out the error you have mentioned, but not in call cases.

Either downgrade to 4.1.22 which seems not to emit this error.

Alternative you can try the VM Ware Server which is not as straight forward to manage as Oracle Virtual Box.

Hi !! Problem solved! Ver 4.1.22 din pose any problems. Was able to proceed but have again got kinda stuck at another point. At the point where we need to find the IP to make it static, after entering the command /sbin/ifconfig , am not finding the IP at all in the eth0 section! There is no 192.1... etc at all as you say in the video...Not sure if its workin fine...Have uploaded the screenshot...

Problem Solved! My brother, a Linux expert, fixed the IP of the router. Earlier it was not showing. Then he fixed it.

Am stuck at another point. Stage Creation - Have mounted the Oracle files & Linux packages as instructed. after that, typed the long command to unzip the files but does not seem to be working. Tried quite a few times. Maybe something is wrong in the command that am typing..Not sure..Have attached the screenshot

Re:Installation of Oracle E Business Suite 11 Years, 3 Months ago
Hi . Please ignore the above query since I was able to progress beyond the point. I realised I had not logged in to the Home Login and was using the Root Login. I proceeded to the step where i could see all the Oracle Zip Files. I have named folder as 'Files'. But after that, i entered the big command quite a few times to unzip , but it does not seem to be working. Please advise. http://handsonerp.com/images/fbfiles/images/Command_error-6ffe81c9c2ed49301d41ccac36ab5978.jpg

So sorry for the late reply.

Looks like you are missing semicolon at the end.

for z in *.zip; do unzip -o $z -d /home/Oracle/stage; done;

Please confirm. Thanks.

Hi. Yeah! Discovered that myself and it worked...But the files are not getting unzipped completely. It says no disk space but am using an external hard drive and installing Linux and Oracle on that. Space available on hard drive is 465 GB. as per your first video, 400 GB is enough. Dony know why this message is showing. Have attached the screenshot http://handsonerp.com/images/fbfiles/images/No_Space.jpg

Have resolved it myself. Had made a critical error of not allocating enough space to the hard drive at the time of installing VM. Reinstalled the whole thing. Its working.

Re:Installation of Oracle E Business Suite 11 Years, 3 Months ago
After creation of stage and the for loop command to unzip the files, entered the mkd5 command to verify. But it has thrown up an error of not being able to read 38 of 1999 files. I checked and confirmed that have downloaded all the files from Oracle website. In the screenshot it says Disk 48, 49 etc but how do I identify which file it is? Cant correlate that to the files that I have downloaded from the Oracle website. Not sure how to proceed. Pl advise http://handsonerp.com/images/fbfiles/images/Stage_Creation_Error.jpg
